Marcus proposed to Tiffany on Valentine's Day in 2014, in the sleepy little beach town of Wilmington, North Carolina. 

 

He had booked a private plane to fly her out to the coast, lined up a proposal restaurant, music to be played, and of course had a beautiful ring burning through his pockets. 

 

But since this is real life, none of that happened

according to plan.

 

A giant blizzard swept through the east coast, grounding all of Tiffany's transportation options. She ended up taking a Greyhound bus for over 12 hours to North Carolina, where Marcus picked her up and promptly put her back into a car to drive an additional couple of hours to Wilmington. 

 

Adamant on using the last half hour of Valentine's Day to propose, Marcus set up a scavenger hunt for Tiffany while she was in the shower. When she came out she was forced to search all over the room, out to the car, and finally under the bed where Marcus had hid a scrapbook that he had made for her, chronicling all of their love notes over the years. When she flipped to the last page with a picture of the ring, Marcus dropped down to one knee and proposed.

 

She cried, he laughed, and the rest is history.
